Today is a great day for Elder Scrolls and MMORPGs fans everywhere. Bethesda finally lifted the veil (so very slighty) on its Elder Scrolls MMORPG project started in 2007.
Accompanying this news is a reveal trailer and when I said that the veil was so very slightly lifted, I wasn’t joking! I know the gaming industry likes to tease the living hell out of us, bombard us with CG trailers that won’t show anything ingame to wow us, but this kind of trailer in which you learn and see nothing at all is quite frustrating.
Thing is, the bitch works, I’m still eager to play the game, just disappointed this didn’t show much. But there is always a but! Gameinformer has an incoming feature on the game and a NeoGAF user posted a shitload of details over here.
Now I won’t list them all here since it’s a HUGE list but some highlights for me are :
Much like Star Wars The Old Republic, the game is fully voice acted!
And again much like SWTOR it visually looks like other Hero Engine MMOs
You can’t be a werewolf or vampire
Crafting, alchemy, and soul stones will exist in an unrevealed form
Tons of towns ranging from Imperial City, Windhelm, Daggerfall, Sentinel, Mournhold, Ebonheart, Elden Root, Shornhelm, Evermore, Riften, and a lot more
“It needs to be comfortable for people who are coming in from a typical massively multiplayer game that has the same control mechanisms, but it also has to appeal to Skyrim players.”
And so much more! Go read it all now!
You can also view a very nice concept art album over at Joystiq with 17 pictures to give you a general taste of what the game will look like. In any case this is better than just the video!
